About
Thanks to a generous gift, hundreds of children from the South County Boys and Girls Club, including many from the Camp Pendleton Marine base whose mother or father are away serving our country, will be participating in a series of afternoon "Voyages To Wellness For Kids" on board the historic tall ship, Curlew, in Dana Point, California.
The experience of sunshine, wind and water onboard the historic tall ship Curlew, combined with sightings of dolphins and whales create an outstanding environment for kids to experience pure joy and pure happiness--a feeling of true wellness. Such feelings, once experienced, can never be forgotten.
Dr. Edward A. Taub, M.D., is a board certified Pediatrician and a Wellness pioneer who has lived and practiced Medicine in the Orange County area for 50 years, including being Ship Doctor onboard the historic tall ship, Curlew, docked in the Dana Point Harbor. He has not been been very successful in trying to retire.
Marc D. Taub, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Saddleback Memorial Medical Center Emergency Departments in Laguna Hills and San Clemente. He's happy to join his father as Ship Doctor and wellness teacher onboard Curlew.
Both Doctors Taub teach kids about wellness in ways they can easily understand--especially about making right choices and aiming high. They highlight healthful nutrition, including drinking lots of water, regular outdoor exercise, adequate rest, respect for parents and teachers, kindness towards others, and following the Golden Rule. The children also learn a simple yet powerful stress management meditation technique.
Both doctors volunteer their services and follow generally accepted standards for anticipatory guidance and counseling as set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
